IMI Research Seminar Spring 2011
October 18, 2010
The Interdisciplinary Mathematics Institute (IMI) and the NanoCenter at the University of South Carolina are planning to have a joint research seminar on “New Frontiers in Imaging and Sensing" in Spring 2011. Encouraged by the outcome of the two preceding focused research workshops in Spring 2009 and 2010 we plan to continue our collaboration in developing new imaging methods for electron microscopy with special emphasis on sparsity recovering and compressed sensing concepts. Moreover, we plan to widen the scope of applications to other data acquisition methods such as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) or tomography related scenarios.
Focused activities will take place during the period between Feb 7 and April 3. In particular, we plan to organize a Workshop during the second half of February (tentatively from Feb. 17 – Feb. 23) bringing together experts in relevant areas like material science, microscopy, mathematics and computer science.
